However, more recent studies suggest that eggs can be good for your heart. So, what\u2019s the truth about eggs and heart health?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Researchers at Boston University studied data on more than 2,300 adults. They found that eating five or more eggs a week was associated with lower blood pressure, lower blood sugar, and a lower risk of type 2 diabetes, suggesting eating eggs may actually promote heart health.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Critics caution that the study did not examine other heart disease risk factors, such as cholesterol levels, and that it\u2019s premature to declare eggs \u201cgood for the heart.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to a local Boston newspaper, Amber Core, a registered dietitian at The Ohio State University, said that the findings do not necessarily show that eating eggs protects against heart disease.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhile this study suggests the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">at eggs may have a positive impact on blood pressure and fasting glucose levels, this is not indicative of protection against the development of heart disease. Heart disease development is more so determined by \u200bhigh cholesterol, high blood pressure, and genetic determinants,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, the American Heart Association recommends one whole egg or two eggs with just the whites per day as part of a heart-healthy diet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The current biggest concern about eggs may not be their impact on your health but their impact on your wallet. As anyone who has been to the market lately will tell you, egg prices are at record highs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Egg prices rose almost 60% in December compared to a year before, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
