The new requirement is an update to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/radiation-emitting-products\/regulations-mqsa\/mammography-quality-standards-act-mqsa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) of 1992<\/a>, which was put in place to ensure that facilities that do mammograms provide quality care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"mntl-sc-block_1-0-3\">Experts say that breast density matters because a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.verywellhealth.com\/breast-cancer-misdiagnosis-6750127\">cancerous tumor<\/a>&nbsp;in a dense breast may not show up as clearly on mammography as it would in a less dense breast.
