But after 4-8 weeks, they were eagerly buying summer clothes that showed off their slimmer physiques.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are 10 tips I shared with those clients \u2013 and am now sharing with you \u2013 that will help you lose weight and get that slimmer, tighter body that you\u2019ll love showing off when summer hits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1.&nbsp;<strong>START EACH DAY WITH INFUSED DEBLOATING WATER<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20370%20247'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/masalabodycom.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Screenshot-2023-03-29-143925.png\" alt=\"lemon cucumber water\" class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load wp-image-15772\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/masalabodycom.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Screenshot-2023-03-29-143925.png\" alt=\"lemon cucumber water\" class=\"wp-image-15772\"\/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This tip will help you lose weight by the summer AND get you in a summery mood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I recommend to all my clients that they start the day off by drinking infused debloating water because it does multiple things to help you lose weight: it boosts your metabolism, helps you avoid drinking sugar, and detoxifies and debloats you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This recipe for infused debloating water contains lemon, cucumber, and mint, which will help you feel physically lighter and refreshed (rather than if you drank sugary energy drinks or coffee, which can lead to all sorts of nasty feelings like&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.everydayhealth.com\/diet-nutrition\/potential-signs-youre-eating-too-much-sugar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">irritability, fatigue and stomach pain<\/a>). The light taste of this water will also get you in the mood for summer, and help you imagine relaxing on the beach as a nice breeze blows through your hair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Debloating Water Recipe<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Combine these ingredients in a large pitcher and let them infuse overnight. Ndumele, M.D., M.H.S, \u201cthere is enough evidence to say that elevated sugar consumption is an important contributor to weight gain.\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drinking sugar in the morning can also lead to a spike in your blood sugar levels, which can inhibit the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/optimisingnutrition.com\/oxidative-priority\/#:~:text=Oxidative%20priority%2C%20or%20oxidative%20hierarchy,fat%20available%20to%20our%20bodies.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">oxidative hierarchy<\/a>, making it difficult to lose weight (read more about the role of insulin, blood sugar, and the oxidative hierarchy in my article \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/masalabody.com\/why-is-it-so-hard-to-lose-weight-over-40\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Why is it So Hard to Lose Weight Over 40?<\/a>\u201d).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.&nbsp;<strong>DRINK GREEN SMOOTHIES<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Green smoothies are a great way to increase your nutrient intake and help with weight loss. Green smoothies are usually made with spinach, kale, or another nutrient-packed leafy green like swiss chard.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ars.usda.gov\/plains-area\/gfnd\/gfhnrc\/docs\/news-2013\/dark-green-leafy-vegetables#:~:text=These%20vegetables%20also%20contain%20an,little%20carbohydrates%2C%20sodium%20and%20cholesterol.\">These leafy greens<\/a>&nbsp;contain vitamins A, C, E and K, calcium, fiber, and are a great source of plant-based protein. These nutrient-rich leafy greens make you feel fuller for longer and due to their abundant amounts of Bile acid sequestrants compounds, green smoothies help lower cholesterol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By substituting that bagel in the morning or that fast food at lunchtime with a green smoothie, you will be on your way to weight loss in time for summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re skipping meals, I recommend adding a green smoothie because it will boost metabolism instead of keeping it stagnant, which happens when people don\u2019t eat enough (common in women in midlife).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4.&nbsp;<strong>ADD TURMERIC TO FOODS<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20370%20247'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/masalabodycom.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/tumeric.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load wp-image-5714\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/masalabodycom.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/tumeric.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5714\"\/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Another thing you can do to help with your summer weight loss is to start adding turmeric to your diet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turmeric helps with weight loss by reducing inflammation. When your body is inflamed, it\u2019s easier to gain weight and harder to lose weight. Your whole system is stressed out and this leads to an increase in fat storage. Inflammation also makes you retain water, which makes you look and feel puffy. However,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hopkinsmedicine.org\/health\/wellness-and-prevention\/turmeric-benefits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Turmeric contains curcumin, which has strong anti-inflammatory compounds<\/a>&nbsp;and reduces obesity-related inflammation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add 1\/2 teaspoon of turmeric to foods such as meat, eggs, and smoothies. Its pungent, earthy-sweet taste will liven up whatever dish you\u2019re eating. Combine turmeric with a sprinkle of black pepper, which increases absorption by your body by over 2000%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5.&nbsp;WRITE THIS MANTRA: \u201cIT\u2019S NOT ALL OR NOTHING. It\u2019s the healthier choice.\u201d You have to remember that when you get off track from your healthy diet, it doesn\u2019t mean you failed. It means that in that moment, you needed something sugary or something salty, and the next food choice you make will be a healthier one.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we let ourselves think we have failed, it kills any momentum we had on our weight loss journey. So reframe those \u201cfailures\u201d into what they really are: learnings. Learn from them, and then make healthier choices for your next snack or meal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6.&nbsp;<strong>EAT POTATOES LAST<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20370%20247'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/masalabodycom.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/clark-douglas-37oYY2wHu0Q-unsplash-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load wp-image-15802\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/masalabodycom.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/clark-douglas-37oYY2wHu0Q-unsplash-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15802\"\/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This is another little trick that will help you get slimmer by summer: eat your potatoes last.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many people like a side of potatoes with their meals, whether it be french fries, baked potatoes, fried potatoes, potato chips, or potato salad. According to The Packer\u2019s 2022 Fresh Trends survey,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepacker.com\/news\/produce-crops\/fresh-trends-data-shows-potatoes-are-most-popular-vegetable\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">potatoes are the most popular vegetable<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you\u2019re eating a meal with potatoes as a side, first eat the protein and vegetable parts of your meal BEFORE you eat the potatoes. Because, even though potatoes are considered \u201chealthy\u201d carbs, your body digests these carbs faster than other kinds of complex carbs.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/diabetes\/carbs-potatoes-blood-sugar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">These broken-down carbs will cause your blood sugar to spike because they deluge your blood with sugar.<\/a>&nbsp;If you eat your protein and vegetables before your potatoes, you will decrease spikes in your blood sugar, which will prevent too much fat from being stored in your body.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7.&nbsp;<strong>EAT ONLY THE INSIDES OF A SANDWICH<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20370%20247'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/masalabodycom.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/the-matter-of-food-loeyDIdEW_w-unsplash-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load wp-image-15801\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/masalabodycom.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/the-matter-of-food-loeyDIdEW_w-unsplash-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15801\"\/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Another thing you can do to help you lose weight by summer!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you eat a sandwich, eat the insides of two sandwiches, or eat one open-faced (one piece of bread) sandwich. This way, you are eating more metabolism-boosting foods and less fat-storing foods. You\u2019ll also feel full for longer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For an additional boost to weight loss, make your sandwich options healthy as well as flavorful. However, we see those changes when we measure our bust, waist, and hips weekly. It nourishes our bodies so that we can live our lives, play with our children, and pursue things that interest us.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Food is not supposed to be the center of our lives. It should not be something that dictates where we go and what we do. It may not have occurred to you how often you plan an activity and the main part of that activity is centered around eating.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure food does not become the focus of your day, avoid planning activities only around food. Instead of\u00a0<em>going out to brunch<\/em>\u00a0being the activity of the day, make it a morning hike. Instead of\u00a0<em>planning your child\u2019s birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese<\/em>, plan the party at the local park. Instead of<em>\u00a0imagining where you and your family will go out to eat this Saturday night<\/em>, imagine yourselves going for an afternoon bike ride.
