Starting the day right is critical, he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am on a pretty aggressive regimen,\u201d he tells&nbsp;<em>Fortune<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of grabbing a sweetened coffee, muffin, or cereal, which provide only short energy bursts, Hyman turns to what he calls his \u201chealthy aging shake.\u201d Packed with protein, the shake is a staple in his morning routine; it\u2019s how he breaks his daily 16-hour fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cProtein is really important in a fasted state because that activates our stem cells, creates muscle synthesis [and] builds our muscle mass, which is critical to healthy longevity and function,\u201d he recently said, speaking to\u00a0<em>Fortune<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dr. Hyman\u2019s morning \u201chealthy aging shake\u201d recipe<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>8 to 12 ounces of unsweetened macadamia milk or other nut or seed milk without emulsifiers or sweeteners<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 handful of frozen berries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>30 grams (2 scoops) of regeneratively or organically raised goat whey to increase protein intake<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5 grams (1 scoop) of creatine for muscle growth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A packet of urolithin A (UA,&nbsp;which is a compound from pomegranate that helps activate mitochondria regeneration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>9 grams (1 scoop) of Gut Food product (pre-probiotic and polyphenol blend) for gut health<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tablespoon MCT oil or Brain Octane oil for energy and brain function<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon mushroom powder for energy, immunity, and stress resilience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This combination serves one to two people and takes five minutes to blend. It\u2019s great first thing in the morning or within an hour of exercise, especially strength training, Hyman says in his book.
