It\u2019s a surprising turn given that the eradication effort had been criticized as floundering as recently as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/lancet\/article\/PIIS0140-6736(22)01875-X\/fulltext\">last year<\/a>.
