6 Things Your Gynecologist Is Not Telling You That You Need To Know

There are various problems that can occur alongside hormonal imbalances, like weight gain, weight loss, mood swings, infertility and more. As a naturopathic therapist I like to focus on natural health and wellness for my patients to reach their optimal health goals. When it comes to hormones, there could be a lot of information that your gynecologist may not be telling you. So if hormone imbalance is something you are struggling with and you do not know what the root cause may be, here are some important things to look at.

6 Things Your Gynecologist is Not Telling You

#1. Pills Cause Further Hormonal Imbalance

If you are dealing with hormonal imbalances, taking pills can actually make it worse. The reason they can create further imbalances is due to the fact that they are bringing artificial hormones into your system. Hormonal imbalances can occur whether switching between different types of pills, or are trying to wean off of them completely.

Taking artificial hormones can create a severe disruption in your own natural production of hormones and cause a ripple effect that may only make things worse.

#2. Ovarian Cysts are Caused by Thyroid and Adrenal Imbalances

If you have struggled with ovarian cysts, it is likely that they were caused by thyroid and adrenal imbalances. Many women experience ovarian cysts at various stages of their life. It is common for teenagers to develop them because their bodies are changing and the hormones are generally imbalanced during this time, but it can also occur in women who are post-menopausal, for essentially the same reason. Making sure both your thyroid and adrenal glands are functioning properly is crucial to the quality of your overall health.

#3. Fibroids Indicate Liver and Estrogen Toxicity

The next thing your gynecologist probably isn’t talking to you is that fibroids indicate liver and estrogen toxicity. Fibroids are noncancerous growths that generally occur in the uterus. Although not all fibroids cause symptoms, if they do happen, symptoms can be heavy menstrual cycles, back pain, frequent urinaton, and pain during sex. (2)  Our bodies have a natural way to detox excess estrogen and other hormones, but if you have uterine fibroids, it may not work properly. This may result in hormonal imbalances. #4. Breast Cysts & Fibroids are Linked to Iodine Deficiency and Lymphatic Congestion

If you don’t already know, in addition to my naturopathic practice, I’m also a lymphatic drainage therapist. It astounds me how little gynecologists promote lymphatic work for their patients. Lymphatic drainage can clear excess toxins from the body along with dead breast cells. But when lymph is not draining properly, the thyroid can become a storage site for it, which is not optimal. Be sure to consume iodine rich foods such as seaweed and kelp to maintain proper breast health along with getting yearly mammograms.

#5. PCOS is an Inflammatory Disorder

Another thing your gynecologist won’t tell you is that polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an inflammatory disorder. PCOS is a condition where there is an abnormal amount of androgens, allowing for the development of  numerous small cysts on the ovaries. (3) Although cysts are not a requirement in order to be diagnosed with PCOS, even without them it is vital to manage this condition. PCOS can be an indication of too much inflammation in your body. It is important to harness hormonal imbalances in order to tame PCOS.

#6. Endometriosis Is An Auto-immune Dysfunction

If you are experiencing endometriosis this is a sign that you have an auto-immune dysfunction. Generally, doctors would either give you a pill or take the surgical route  to try and get rid of your endometriosis. However, surgery in particular may not work because endometrial tissue can be in the nose, brain, breast, bladder, small and large intestines so the typical method may not get rid of all of it. Therefore, it is important to take a more natural approach by addressing your immune system and calming the inflammatory state that your tissue is in.  If you are interested in learning more about endometriosis or just need more guidance, download my Natural Endometriosis Treatment Protocol here.
